PYD Detection Service

PYD is derived from the degradation of collagen and is of interest as a biomarker for bone resorption for assessing the risk of fracture in people with osteoporosis, bone cancer and other collagen diseases. In addition to the monomeric PYD, Glc-Gal-PYD 4 also can be used as a biomarker to monitor patients who suffer from various joint diseases or synovium degradation. Creative BioMart Biomarker is capable to provide our customers with superior PYD detection service, various detection methods ensuring high sensitivity for detecting biomarkers in different samples with different concentrations.

Introduction

Pyridinoline (PYD) is a molecule that mechanically stabilizes collagen by crosslinking single collagen peptides. Collagen cross-linking is the major post-translational modification of collagen and plays an important role in the biological and biomechanical properties of bone. Collagen cross-linking can be divided into lysyl hydroxylase and lysyl oxidase-mediated enzymatic immature bivalent cross-linking, mature trivalent pyridinoline and pyrrole cross-linking, and non-enzymatic induction by saccharification or oxidation promote cross-linking such as glucosepane, pentosidine, etc. PYD is mainly found in cartilage, bones, ligaments and blood vessels. Collagen cross-linking is formed during the extracellular maturation of collagen and is released from the degradation of mature collagen into the circulation. PYD is released into the urine either freely (40%) or in combination with the polypeptide (60%), and most of the PYD released into the urine is derived from the bone. The level of urine PYD in patients with osteoporosis or other metabolic bone diseases is significantly higher than in healthy people. In addition to the monomeric PYD, Glc-Gal-PYD 4, a diglycosylated PYD, can represent a synovium status, as a biomarker to monitor patients suffering from various joint diseases or synovium degradation.
