Pre-β1 HDL Detection Service

Pre-β1 HDL is a subgroup of high density lipoprotein (HDL) that is the first receptor for cellular free cholesterol and functions in the reverse cholesterol transport. The concentration of plasma pre-β1 HDL can be used as a risk marker for cardiovascular disease. Creative BioMart Biomarker is capable to provide our customers with superior pre-β1 HDL detection service, various detection methods ensuring high sensitivity for detecting biomarkers in different samples with different concentrations.

Introduction

HDL is highly heterogeneous and differs in size, structure and composition. HDL is divided into two major subpopulations, one subgroup with α-mobility and the other subgroup with a similar migration to very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), called pre-β HDL. Most of the HDL in plasma is α HDL, and pre-β HDL accounts for only 2-14% of apolipoprotein A-I. Pre-β HDL has three small branches according to its size: pre-β1, pre-β2 and pre-β3 HDL. Among them, pre-β1 HDL is the first receptor for cellular free cholesterol. Studies have shown that HDL has multiple anti-atherosclerotic protective functions, and various HDL subpopulations have different anti-atherosclerotic properties. Pre-β1 HDL is a special subpopulation of HDL whose main components are apolipoprotein A1 and phospholipids. The interaction of Pre-β HDL with ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) promotes cellular cholesterol efflux, while pre-β1 HDL plays an important role in the reverse cholesterol transport. It obtains free cholesterol through ABCA1 and then esterifies cholesterol through lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) to form large diameter HDL particles with α-mobility. Pre-β1 HDL aggregates into one particle when HDL is formed. Cholesteryl ester transporter protein (CETP) transfers cholesteryl esters from HDL to receptor lipoproteins and ultimately to the liver. The pre-β1 HDL is regenerated in this process. And studies have shown that pre-β1 HDL can be used as a risk marker for cardiovascular disease. The absolute level of pre-β1 HDL can be used as an indicator of structural coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction, and also for carotid disease.

Application of Pre-β1 HDL

Plasma level of pre-β1 HDL can be used as a biomarker predicts the risk of cardiovascular disease such as structural coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction and also for carotid disease.
