IL-1β Detection Service

Interleukin-1 (IL-1) was originally thought to be a lymphocyte activating factor, but it was later found to have multiple effects, including inducing inflammation, raising body temperature, and stimulating T and B cell proliferation. Its activity is not limited to the immune system. IL-1 is also involved in regulating blood calcium levels, stimulating various body temperatures, regulating blood pressure or modulating sleeping. There is evidence that IL-1 is involved in the pathogenesis of certain cardiovascular diseases, and IL-1β can be used as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for cardiovascular disease. Creative BioMartBiomarker is capable to provide our customers with superior IL-1β detection service, various detection methods ensuring high sensitivity for detecting biomarkers in different samples with different concentrations.

Introduction

IL-1 is the term for two different but related proteins, namely IL-1α and IL-1β, encoded by two separate genes. They produce a 31 kDa precursor under stress or cell injury and are subject to proteolysis by specific proteases during maturation. IL-1α and IL-1β use the same membrane receptor (IL-1R) to trigger signal transduction pathways, leading to the activation of NF-κB or AP-1.

The lack of IL-1β reduces the severity of atherosclerosis in mice. The interaction of osteopontin and IL-1β may help the development of atherosclerotic lesions and the instability of atheromatous plaques. In addition, much evidence, including the human body, indicates that IL-1β plays an important role in insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetic states, producing a large number of adipokines, including IL-1β. These adipokines can be released into the circulation system and affect distant organs, including the heart or vessels. Therefore, IL-1β plays an important role in cardiovascular disease. At present, there have been studies to use IL-1β as a target for cardiovascular disease therapy.
