Fibrin/fibrinogen degradation products (FDP) are a digestive product of fibrinogen and fibrin clot, and its concentration increases in inflammatory diseases such as sepsis, periodontitis, and rheumatoid arthritis. FDP can be used as a potential biomarker in the research of inflammatory diseases. As an expert in the field of biomarker testing services, Creative BioMart Biomarker provide accurate and fast FDP testing services for biomarker researchers and are committed to helping customers accelerate the progress of FDP researches.
Inflammation is a complex response to infection or injury that occurs in the human body. The inflammatory process is related to the activation of the coagulation system, and coagulation is initiated by the activation of thrombin, which is related to the formation of fibrin. Fibrinogen/fibrin and FDP are coagulation factors that can regulate the inflammatory response by affecting the migration of leukocytes and the production of cytokines. Fibrinogen is a soluble glycoprotein formed in the liver. During the coagulation process, thrombin cleaves fibrinogen, releasing fibrinopeptides A (FpA, Aα1-16) and B (Bβ1-15), exposing the polymerization site and triggering fibrin polymerization. Thrombin activates coagulation factors and catalyzes the formation of isopeptide bonds between γ chains to stabilize fibrin clots. Fibrin can be cleaved at different sites by activated plasmin to produce different fragments, including X and Y fragments, D-dimers, D and E fragments, Bβ15-42, and other smaller fragments. Among them, D-dimers is a biomarker that can be used for fibrinolysis and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). And it triggers the release of IL-1β, IL-6 and plasminogen activator inhibitor in peripheral blood mononuclear cells. During inflammation, E fragment can bind to VE-cadherin to induce cytokine expression and leukocyte migration. The increase in the expression level of FDP indicates the activation of coagulation and fibrinolysis, so it is used in the study of chronic inflammatory diseases.
