Trop-2, also known as Epithelial Glycoprotein-1 (EGP-1), is a protein encoded by the TACSTD2 gene in humans. This protein is clinically significant because mutations in its gene are the direct cause of gelatinous drop-like corneal dystrophy. This is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder characterized by severe amyloid deposits in the cornea, which ultimately leads to blindness. |
