Product Overview:  Recombinant Human CD5 (P06127) (Arg25-Asn371) fused with a C-terminal hFc-Avi tag, was expressed in HEK293 cells.
Description:  CD5 (also known as Leu-1) is a 67 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as a key inhibitory receptor on both T and B lymphocytes. Its primary role is to negatively regulate antigen receptor signaling (both TCR and BCR), which in turn promotes cell survival and maintains immune tolerance and anergy. On T cells, CD5 signaling dampens activation and influences differentiation by promoting Th17 cells while inhibiting regulatory T cells. Similarly, on specific B cell subsets, it supports tolerance and non-responsiveness. Additionally, CD5 is involved in pathogen interactions, as it can bind to fungal components and is utilized by the Hepatitis C virus for cellular entry into T cells.
