Axl, a glycoprotein in the TAM receptor tyrosine kinase family, is widely expressed. TAM receptors (Dtk/Tyro3, Axl, Mer) regulate inflammation, cell survival, migration, and tumorigenesis. Axl is abundant in solid cancers, driving tumorigenesis and invasiveness. It also aids vascular remodeling and inflammatory cell infiltration in hypertension and restricted blood flow. |
